Its that kind of book that you don't want to end and hate to say goodbye to the hero and heroine (here's begging for more stories from this author!) Raimond's endearments, especially, 'Mon âme soeur', My soul mate could be felt just as much by the reader as the character! I could feel and see the goosebumps throughout reading this book. The mating called, archaic human custom, was so unique and sensual to read! Even-though not much more is given regarding any other panthers or shape shifter characters or its world, it gave all it needed to tell their story. Sydney's friend has a part in the story with little background who could be one to possibly have her own story and a HEA as well (Happily Ever After) (Just saying) The author did super in bringing about the mating custom smoothly right at the time it occurred. When the ending did come for this book, it was adventurous, gripping as well as so moving to read. Raimond is one special hero that said so much with his actions as well as his beautiful words. Sydney was a strong heroine that fought some difficulties both physically and emotionally in her life but could see and feel when it was love and didn't fight it long. It was great to see this not dragged on but confronted between them in resolving. It made it smooth reading as well as bringing out all the parts that made this book. This author Esmerelda Bishop made it so special with Sydney and Raimond in THE PANTHER'S LAIR. A first read of this author but here's hoping for more from Esmerelda Bishop!

SIZZLING HOT!!!
Fantastic writing, I couldn't put the book down. Even though the book is a short read it was full of lots of erotica action that will surely satisfy your minds sex-ual hunger.
Sydney is just an ordinary woman who has had her share of bad picks for relationships that always turn out bad. So she makes her mind up to become like most men and turn her heart off and gain the attitude of lay em and leave em with no strings attached.
Sydney's stragedy gets thrown out the window when she meets Raimond (Black Panther) and he spices things up. She gets more than she bargain for. I loved the ending where Raimond is Sydney's hero and becomes her eternal soul mate.
Sydney Chase doesn't want a relationship, yet does want to hook up for a one night stand. She stops at a club where she meets the owner, Raimond Decoudreau. Lust overwhelms Sydney and before she knows it, she is naked and in Raimond's office having the best sex of her life. Raimond knows that Sydney will be confused once her hormones settle, but Raimond isn't - she is his and he is going to keep her.
Esmerelda Bishop's The Panther's Lair is fast paced and very erotic. The plot is interesting and entertaining, but I feel it moves too quickly and that the relationship between Sydney and Raimond is not allowed to establish much past hooking up. Is it erotic? Yes. Is the storyline believable? Yes. Would I love just a bit more solidity to Sydney and Raimond's relationship? Yes! The Panther's Lair is hot and seductive, but without the two main characters clicking, I probably won't read it again.

Sydney Chase is on the prowl. She's not bothering with looking for a good man intent on a happily ever after. Nope, she's been there, done that. What she wants is a one night stand. No commitments, no strings, no false promises and no broken heart. She's convinced a nightclub called Panther's Lair is the perfect place to seek and find exactly the sort of man who fits her criteria.
She's right on one account. Sydney does find a man who peaks her interest in club owner Raimond Decoudreau. He's sexy, attentive to her needs and possesses a French accent that makes her positively weak in the knees. She assumes that because he's the owner of the club he indulges in spending time with a variety of women. She's in for quite a surprise because Raimond isn't your typical club owner - and he's determined that one night is not enough - in fact, he's decided that Sydney is the one for him. All he has to do now is convince her of that fact.
After one mind altering, life changing night together, Raimond's more convinced than ever that Sydney is his mate. She's made it perfectly clear that she's not looking for a permanent relationship despite the fact that she knows they connected on a much deeper level than just merely sex. The discovery of flat tires on her car result in him giving her a ride home, only Sydney lies and has him drop her off at her friend's home. She also gives him a fake phone number. Raimond is more than a little frustrated at Sydney's attempts to evade him. He doesn't even know her last name. What he does know is that her car is still parked in the club's parking lot and he's not above using her need for transportation against her. If she wants her car back, she's going to have to come to him.
There's no question in his mind that Sydney belongs to him. Her scent lures him in and he's unable to prevent himself from marking her. He has no doubt that she's as attracted to him as he is to her but he carries a secret that he's afraid to share. He fears that if she learns who he truly is too soon, she'll reject him. However, circumstances beyond his control push his instincts into taking over and the results could potentially lead to total heartbreak or happily-ever-after.
THE PANTHER'S LAIR is a fascinating mixture of paranormal, suspense, humor and some scorching sexual tension. I love how Esmerelda Bishop begins her story as a mere sordid man meat hunt and brings it full circle into an emotionally charged situation that captivates the imagination. I got a real kick out of Sydney's tempts at evading Raimond and had to laugh at his obvious pleasure at the realization that she had completely forgot that she would have to retrieve her car and thus deal with him. The connection between them is endearing and downright hot and could possibly make you just a little bit envious.
